Agroupphotowithmouth-and-noseprotection,generousdistancebetweentheseatsandastrictlylimitednumberofparticipants-theClusterRetreatwasaspecialonethisyear.

AftertheoriginaldateinJunehadtobepostponedduetothecoronapandemic,theretreatcouldnowtakeplaceonSeptember1and2,2020,butundersignificantlydifferentconditions.Duetohygienerestrictions,onlyamaximumof100participantswereadmitted.TheyusedtheopportunityfordirectexchangeandnetworkingintheMARITIMHotelBellevueinKiel.

ThisyearthefocuswasespeciallyontheworkintheResearchandTechnologyFields(RTFs),butmembersfromtheClinicalDemonstrators(CDs)andTargetInnovationProjects(TIs)alsohadtheirsay.Besidesthewell-knownclustertopics,impressiveworkonCOVID-19waspresentedanddiscussed.OnTuesdayafternoontheleadersofthejuniorresearchgroupsoftheSchleswig-HolsteinExcellence-Chairpresentedthemselvesandtheirresearch.OnWednesday,theClinicianScientistspresentedthecurrentstatusofthecluster'sclinicalstudies.Duringthefollowinglunch,allmembershadtheopportunitytoestablishvaluablecontactswiththestudymanagersandtoexplorepossiblecooperations.

TheSABmemberspresentwerealsoenthusiasticaboutthelivelinessandhighqualityofresearch,especiallyfromtheyoungerclustermembers,andemphasizedhownaturallytranslationalresearchislivedinthecluster.
