PMI Impulse - the print magazine of the Cluster of Excellence PMI
PMI Impulse - das Magazin des Exzellenzclusters PMI
The print magazine of the Cluster of Excellence PMI shows where and how the scientists in the Cluster are providing impetus in science and clinical practice, how they are advancing research and transferring it to clinical application. It presents the cluster's research and topics, each with a focus topic.
Issue 2: Immune cells - the inflammation makers
The cells of the adaptive immune system are among the key players in chronic inflammation. They are both the pacemakers and the executors of inflammation. The current issue of PMI Impulse is therefore dedicated to precisely these key players:
Issue 1: COVID 19 - challenge for research
The first PMI magazine provides an insight into the Cluster's diverse COVID research during the coronavirus pandemic. The spectrum ranges from findings from basic research on genetics and the role of the immune system, to studies on the spread of the virus and clinical studies on the long-term effects of COVID-19.

PMI in the podcast "Exzellent erklärt - Spitzenforschung für alle"
57 clusters of excellence, 1 podcast. “Exzellent erklärt – Spitzenforschung für alle” (in German language) regularly reports from one of the research networks funded as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. The journey takes us across the country, and the topics are as diverse as the locations: from African studies to the future of medicine.
Episode #27 "Chronic Inflammation
In the episode #27, PMI spokesperson Professor Stefan Schreiber talks to podcaster Larissa Vassilian about what we already know (and don't know) about chronic inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis, rheumatism and Crohn's disease, why research into them is so important and whether these modern diseases could be stopped in the near future. Professor Ben Krause-Kyora, archaeologist and biochemist, explains how he uses ancient DNA to research past epidemics, how they have shaped our genes and immune system and what this has to do with modern inflammatory diseases.

Episode #58 "Precision Medicine"
What if therapies were no longer prescribed on a trial-and-error basis, but were tailored precisely to your body? Episode #58 of “Exzellent erklärt – Spitzenforschung für alle” (Excellent Explanations – Cutting-Edge Research for Everyone) focuses on precision medicine for chronic inflammatory diseases. This modern approach aims to find the most suitable therapy for each individual – with the help of biomarkers, artificial intelligence, and lots of data. The discussion features PMI members Prof. Henriette Kirchner, nutritionist and epigeneticist at the University of Lübeck, and dermatologist PD Sascha Gerdes from the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel Campus.

Interviews on precision medicine
Why is precision medicine important? What does it mean for your own work and how far has it already progressed in individual fields? And how will the future medicine look like with precision medicine implemented? International speakers and members of the Cluster give their assessments on this in an interview at the International Symposium 2018 of the Cluster of Excellence "Inflammation at Interfaces", the predecessor of "Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation".
