How can promising discoveries be brought closer to patient care?

A central goal of PMI is to translate research findings into better diagnosis and treatment. The Clinical Demonstrator provides a common framework for testing diagnostic tools and therapeutic concepts developed within PMI in clinical proof-of-concept studies in dermatology, gastroenterology, pneumology and rheumatology.

At its core is high-resolution longitudinal phenotyping: clinical information, biological samples and molecular data are collected over time to characterise the heterogeneity of treatment response trajectories and disease progression in individual patients. By integrating data from both routine clinical care and research, the Clinical Demonstrator moves beyond static disease phenotypes towards dynamic patient trajectories, enabling more precise characterization and stratification of individual patients over time.

The resulting longitudinal data and biospecimens will provide a shared resource for PMI researchers to discover and validate biomarkers and develop new precision-medicine approaches.
