Young Scientist Retreat 2022

Around 60 young scientists of the Cluster of Excellence PMI met for scientific exchange in Timmendorfer Strand on August 24 and 25.

In a summery atmosphere, this year's Young Scientist Retreat offered a varied program. The lectures and workshops were thematically divided into 5 sessions: „Infectious diseases & microbiome“, „Nervous system & inflammation“, „New techniques under optimization in PMI“, „Modern Imaging for Precision Medicine“ and „Alternatives to Academia“. Supplemented by presentations by the experienced PIs, especially the younger cluster members were given a stage to present their scientific work.

With the keynote lecture "Advice to my younger self" by Professor Olaf Wolkenhauer from the University of Rostock and the workshop "Different Career Paths for Academics", offered by Dr. Anne Wolfes (ProSciencia), the program was complemented by the opportunity for self-reflection on the (scientific) career.

In addition to the scientific exchange, everyone was happy to meet and exchange ideas in person on site, after the Retreat in 2021 could only take place virtually.
