We have lost a highly esteemed colleague, clinician and scientist.

Detlef Zillikens, as a founding and Steering Committee member, has decisively shaped and enriched the DFG Cluster of Excellence since its inception in 2007. As a world-leading dermatologist in the field of blistering skin diseases, he has driven inflammation research to a remarkable extent and initiated several major research collaborations.

The promotion of young clinical scientists was particularly close to his heart. He gave the decisive impulse for the establishment of the Clinician Scientist Program in Schleswig-Holstein.

He leaves behind a big gap. His scientific legacy will always be with us.
