Review: COVID-19 host genetics and ABO blood group susceptibility

What is the role of ABO blood group in SARS-CoV-2 infection and/or severe COVID-19, and what genetic risk factors are known to date?

In a review article, Prof. David Ellinghaus, bioinformatician at the Institute for Clinical Molecularbiology (IKMB) of Kiel University, summarizes recent genetic findings and data from secondary infection rates in couples and modeling experiments to explain the influence of ABO blood groups on SARS-CoV-2 transmission and infection rates within a population.
