Obituary Susanne Holstein

The members of the Cluster of Excellence PMI mourn the loss of Dr. habil Susanne Holstein, who passed away on December 13, 2024 after a short and serious illness at the age of 62. Susanne Holstein played a key role in shaping the fate of Kiel's life sciences, firstly as Managing Director of the Cluster of Excellence PMI and its predecessor Inflammation at Interfaces since 2013, and from the very beginning as Managing Director of the CAU research focus KLS. In this role, she was able to make a decisive contribution to closer cooperation between clinical and basic research in Kiel and thus to the success of the life sciences at the interface of biology and medicine. Susanne Holstein was wholeheartedly committed to the interests of the life sciences and inflammation research in particular. We will remember Dr. habil. Holstein with gratitude. Our sympathy goes out to her family and friends.
