Midterm evaluation of cluster research

In the finest late summer weather, about 140 cluster members met for this year's retreat at the Ostsee Resort Damp on September 20 and 21, 2022. The focus was on the midterm evaluation of all research areas of the cluster.

The members presented and discussed the current status of the cluster's research areas: what has already been achieved, what are the most important results so far and what is still planned? Looking ahead to the future of the cluster and the new application round in the Excellence Strategy, some members also presented new innovative project ideas and concepts.

Also on site were four members of the Cluster's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), two others were digitally connected. They were invited to provide feedback on the cluster research to date and to point out potential shortcomings and challenges. Professor Ernst Th. Rietschel, spokesperson of the SAB, gave some recommendations for the further development of the cluster and drew a very positive conclusion: "This was science at its best. I heard many exceptional projects."
