About Tsutomu Fukuwatari:

Tsutomu Fukuwatari is a professor at Department of Nutrition, The University of Shiga Prefecture, Japan. He received his Ph. D. in applied life sciences from Kyoto University in 2002. He has been the faculty member of the University of Shiga Prefecture as an assistant professor (1997-2009), an associate professor (2009-2014) and a professor (2014-present). He was also a visiting scientist at Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard University (1999), and a postdoctoral fellow at Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, University of Maryland School of Medicine (2004-2006). He received Young Investigator Awards of Japan Society of Nutrition and Food Science for “Importance of the tryptophan-nicotinamide conversion pathway for niacin nutrition” in 2009, and The Japanese Society for Amino Acids Science and Technology Award for “Study on change and regulation of tryptophan metabolic pathway” in 2012.
